Created by artist Mark Catesby for ‘Hortus Europae Americanus’, this gorgeous illustration depicts a magnolia flower, with purple bud and green leaves. The soft, delicate tones of the flower created a stunning contrast against the dark background. Originally published in J. Millon, London, 1767.
