Wallpaper Murals

What finish wallpaper do you recommend?

All our wallpaper finishes are suitable for residential and trade use. Our fabric backed wallpaper finishes (Linen, Oriental and Just Stick It Up) are the best option for walls which are uneven as they will give the best finish. Areas with low to medium traffic we would recommend any of our wallpaper finishes, for high traffic areas stick with our Linen or Oriental fabric backed wallpapers. For further information regarding trade use, get in touch with us directly and we will be happy to advise further.

What are the benefits of the more expensive wallpaper finishes?

Our premium wallpaper Linen, Oriental and Just Stick It Up finishes are a thicker, fabric backed papers. This means that these wallpaper finishes are a better choice for uneven walls as it will help to hide some of the imperfections of the wall. In high traffic areas the high durability of these wallpapers will mean you mural will look great despite the odd scuff.

Will I be able to install it myself?

Absolutely! We provide full install guides with each order, giving you a step by step process of how to install your mural.

What should I do prior to installing the wallpaper?

Our wallpaper finishes are ready for installing onto walls that have been correctly prepared. Ensure your wall surface has been prepared correctly and is clean, smooth, dry and in a sound condition. For more information on the preparation of the wall prior to application, please contact a member of the Surface View team for guidance.

How do I install a mural wallpaper?

Our mural wallpapers are installed very similarly to traditional wallpaper. They are supplied in equal panels and applied using a paste the wall method (or self-adhesive depending on the finish you’ve selected). The second and subsequent drops should be overlapped by 50mm to make sure that the image aligns accurately. When all drops are hung, you need to trim the joins by splicing down the middle. We supply a full installation guide with every order detailing each step. If you’d like to get ready before your order arrives download the install guide from our product pages.

Can you recommend someone to install one of your mural wallpapers in my area?

Yes, if you’d rather we took care of it contact us to arrange a professional installation by one of our specialists.

How do I measure for a mural?

Measure the total area of the space you want your mural to fill. Typically, walls will not be consistent in height and width, so make sure you measure the width and height in at least three places, then simply enter the greatest measurement for the height and the width into our customisation tool. Each mural is supplied with an additional 50mm bleed all around and 25mm bleed between overlaps for installation and wall imperfections.

How do I clean my mural?

Take a damp cloth and very gently wipe over the surface of the mural. Avoid applying too much pressure, scrubbing or scratching the surface as this may damage the mural.

Can I use a mural in a bathroom?

If your bathroom is extremely steamy or your wall comes into contact with water, we wouldn't suggest using wallpaper. However if your bathroom is properly ventilated or rarely comes into contact with water then there shouldn’t be any issues. Due to the variation of conditions across bathrooms we cannot guarantee how our murals will perform in bathrooms. If you are unsure, contact us and we will advise further.

Can I use a mural in a wet room?

As the mural will be in direct contact with water we would not recommend using this in a wet room. Try our mural tiles instead. These are perfect for wet rooms and bathrooms.

Can I use a mural on a ceiling?

Our wallpaper finishes are not recommended for application onto ceilings but there are alternative products which we can recommend such as vinyl which has a stronger adhesive backing and does not require paste to apply. For more information, please contact a member of the Surface View team for guidance.

Printed Roller Blinds

How do I measure for a blind?

First decide if you want to hang your blind inside or outside your window recess.

If you've chosen to hang your blind inside your window recess, take measurements in a few different places to ensure accuracy. If you're planning on hanging your blind outside your window recess we suggest that your blind should project at least 75mm (3”) around the whole of the recess.

Please make allowances if your recess is not square and always double check your measurements. For more details read our Blind Product page found in the footer.

Do you do blackout blinds?

Yes, we offer both standard and blackout blinds.

Do you do roman blinds?

No, currently we only offer roller blinds.

If the design is to work over numerous panes please get in touch and we can provide your window film cut to the size of each pane. See our Window Film product page for more details.

What if my window is not square or rectangle?

No problem, simply measure the size of the area you are looking to cover and then trim when installing. If the shape is particularly complicated get in touch with us and we'll be happy to help.

What finishes are available?

We offer a clear and frosted finish.

Can window film be used on other glass surfaces for example shower cubicles or room dividers?

We have tested our window films on windows, glass doors and internal glass screens. We would not suggest using our films on shower cubicles or areas that will come into contact with extreme conditions for example heat or water. Get in touch to discuss your requirement if you are unsure.

Samples

Can I get a sample?

A4 image samples and A3 bespoke samples are available for wallpaper murals only. Tile samples are not available. See below for more details.

If you have any questions or are interested in obtaining a sample, please contact us on 0118 922 1327 or email [email protected]

Can I get a tile sample?

We are unable to offer this service as standard at present. However if you would like a sample get in touch. Stocks are very limited due to the bespoke nature of the product, but if we can we will send you a finish sample.

Is sampling an exact match to the product?

Our printers are all calibrated to ensure colour continuity. However, there will be slight colour shifts between different finishes, as different surfaces absorb the inks differently. The samples and final products are all matched back to master files, however, there may be very slight colour shifts between print runs. These will be minimal and samples will give you a good indication of print mark and colour.

Images

Can I have any image in any product?

We've curated our selection of images we think will work best in each product, but you if you'd like your chosen image on a different product get in touch and we can arrange this for you.

Yes you can, however we recommend that on products over 1000 x 1000mm you do not zoom more than 50% of the full image.

How do I customise my product once I have selected an image?

It is quite simple! Once you know what product you are after and have decided on the image you will have reached one of our product detail pages. Scroll down and you will find our customisation tool. Input your dimensions and you will see the image cropped to scale. If you would like to select a different area of the image you can click and drag the window to show your preferred section. You can also zoom in to show a more detailed section of the image. The ratio of the window will stay the same as you grab a corner and zoom in or out.

Is it possible to amend the image?

Yes, we can take out details, change colours, stretch backgrounds and much more. Depending the changes you'd like to make it may incur an additional cost. Drop us a line and we can advise further.

Why are there tears in some of the images?

Our images are sourced from archives and we strive to retain all the age worn beauty from the originals dating back hundreds of years. Sometimes areas of the images have been lost, but we feel it just adds to the character. Each image is reproduced at the highest quality by scanning or photographing. The original documents come from a variety of sources from oil paintings to block printed wallpapers and our images capture the original production methods. They are not computer generated graphic images and therefore there may be some softness around shapes depending on the original document.
