Also referred to as 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa', ‘The Great Wave’ is an iconic woodblock print by the Japanese ukiyo-e artist, Katsushika Hokusai. The awe-inspiring composition of this piece is generally accepted as an icon of world art. Hokusai cleverly played with perspective to make Japan’s greatest mountain, Mount Fuji, appear as a small triangular mound in the hollow of the crashing wave.
