It’s always a delight for us to see how designers use Surface View in projects, and we were totally enamoured with interior designer Aurore Martial luxurious yet liveable design scheme for her client.
Aurore Martial is the French founder of Domus Venus' and has worked on a number of high profile projects in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia. Aurore style is incredibly sophisticated, elegant and contemporary. Her recent project in Montpellier is no exception. Taking such a sweet pallet can be risky but Aurore has perfectly teamed modern and traditional, muting tones and creating the perfect mix.
'In this project in France, my clients wanted a pastel colour palette and we used a light pink as the base throughout. However I was worried it would look too sugary so I searched for a strong contrast item for the walls and a wallpaper mural from Surface View was the perfect solution. Surface View has a fabulous selection of museum paintings, the quality is fabulous and even on such a large wall, it didn’t look pixelated at all, instead it almost looks like someone painted it on site. They have several paper finish, and I recommend using the linen textured for maximum impact as it has a canvas like look and feel - perfect for large paintings prints.
This particular flat was in the medieval part of Montpellier, it is over 500 years old and we wanted to keep a mix of old and new; renovating the original flooring, cornicing, but also adding a wow effect that wasn’t too modern, or too expensive. A large piece of art for this room would have costed thousands and we managed to get a very similar effect for a few hundreds, so it is a very cost effective solution that I would happily recommend when doing a room even on a smaller budget.' - Aurore Martial
