Alysia Cotter is an established photographer and movie executive, having worked on films such as Troy, 300 and The Dark Knight to name a few.

In 2013, Alysia approached Surface View looking for new and innovative print techniques and substrates for her stunning collection of photographs, taken over a 12 year period from Cornwall to Malibu.

The collection is a snap shot of Alysia's unique style, combining modern and vintage cameras resulting in a truly cinematic and nostalgic vision of her world.

"I chose to work with Surface View because of their innovative printing techniques. I started photography when I was 12 and learned how to make a print in the darkroom. Every print was unique. Every print was a creation unto itself.

Since digital photography has taken over I've been disappointed with the notion that prints and photographs, including my own, are so easy to replicate. You can print the same photo the same way over and over again. You can share it on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. The unique quality and hands on part of the actual development of the paper and the print has been lost.

By printing my vintage photographs on wood they take on a character all their own by becoming one with the wood. Each piece is an original work of art that can't be replicated. Each piece of wood has different grain and characteristics that become part of the photograph.

I love being able to incorporate this into my prints as I used to do in the dark room. I've had wonderful response from my customers.

I couldn't be more thrilled about the birch ply prints and plan to do many more in the future."
