With a relatively blank canvas to work with - the only consideration from the existing décor was the gorgeous Farrow & Ball paint in Charleston Grey, the choices were endless.

Bethan felt that the best place for the wall art to go was over the fireplace, with this in mind Bethan quickly decided that a canvas would work best to add some wow factor to the room. The next thing (and possibly the hardest) was to choose the image. With a shortlist of a few from the Natural History Museum and the V&A Museum, Bethan decided on the beautiful ‘Belgian Veil II’ image from the V&A.

This gorgeous image features the detail from a wedding veil. Created around 1890, the beautiful hand appliqued flower stitching creates the most luscious lace. Zoomed in, the canvas allows the viewer to appreciate the incredible details of the craftsmanship. Bethan loves that ‘it has a pretty vintage look close-up, but from afar it looks bold and contemporary’.

Using her styling skills, Bethan made the rest of the ornaments on her fireplace work harmoniously with the canvas. The gorgeous apothecary bottles and glass candlestick holder work perfectly with the ceramic bird under a glass cloche. With unique extra touches such as the wooden printing block letters the fireplace really starts to create a statement. You could choose letters or numbers that are personal for you - why not pick your initials?

Be savvy when sourcing these items and check out your local charity shops and ebay for some fabulous finds that are sure to brighten up your home. Fancy a flash of colour? Copper is the colour for the season and slight accents will help to warm your room up and create a lovely homely feel. Get some purse friendly bits and pieces from Marks and Spencer’s.

However you style this gorgeous canvas you can be certain that the impact will be impressive. Take a look at the image here and play around with customising it to create your very own unique product.
